1. little kids. working with them, playing with them, acting like one. especially the ones that i raised from 8 weeks to 16 months.

2. body modifications. mine. on other people, as long as they are well done. mine especially because they mean something to me.

3. trees with flowers. redbuds. dogwoods. mimosas. crepe myrtles.

4. christmas lights.

5. glass. broken pieces or whole dinnerware in cobalt.

6. getting mail (bills excluded). opening an envelope and not knowing what will be inside.

7. walking around. going nowhere in particular.

8. when i post a photo and someone has a positive response.

9. getting a painting just right.

10. finding things.

11. friday tea with randall.

12. when i finally get around to cleaning and everything stays neat for a few days.

13. birds on telephone wires. or just birds or just power lines.

14. movies that i know every single word of: much ado about nothing, aladdin, the wizard of oz, singing in the rain, galaxy quest and watching them with hatty.

15. the rare occasions when sahar and i get to hang out and draw together. i am 300 times more inspired around her.

16. intelligent british authors. *swoon*

17. when typhoid mary curls up in my hair and makes her little chittering happy noises.

18. hanging out at the bogucki household, eating tasty food and reading good books and being entirely comfortable in their presence.

19. being inside with tea and a good book during thunderstorms. alternately, being on the porch with tea and a blanket during thunderstorms.

20. driving and singing loudly and off key with kasey. windows down, hair everywhere, looking for cute boys in cute cars.

21. outdoor festivals.

22. free beer.

23. belching loudly and being totally unladylike.

24. hookah and haterade with joniisan.

25. actually getting a good night's sleep.

26. my (nearly) nightly chats with dane. he keeps me sane.

27. my kitty cat shoes- i can't not smile when i wear them.

28. unexpected corners, alcoves, courtyards, spaces.

29. singing to myself, especially hymns in latin and the beatles or simon and garfunkel.

30. calls from my "sugar mama", megan, the most encouraging person i've ever known.

31. book talk with violet and shane. i can never be too nerdy with those two.

32. free art shows in small galleries with local artists.

33. guessing etymologies and looking them up to find out i'm right!

34. handsome men in frock coats. why wasn't i a victorian???

35. cool breezy weather.

36. textiles.

37. going to the carnival/circus/parade/zoo/aquarium.

44. when people come over to my place and just spend hours looking at all my weird crap.

45. my copy of the encyclopedia of phobias, fears and anxieties. fifty cents at a book sale and hours of entertainment.
